Information Night
December, 2024
Dear 5th Grade Students, Parents and Guardians,
The Federal Way Public Academy (FWPA) staff and I would like you to join us at our annual “Information Night” to explore the challenging educational option our school has to offer.
FWPA is a school in the Federal Way Public School District which provides students a rigorous and challenging academic program. The school’s mission is to provide a college preparatory curriculum for students in grades six through ten. We are proud of our levels of high achievement and the success of our students.
FWPA has been a popular choice for parents who seek a college preparatory education in a small school setting for their child. Enrollment at FWPA is approximately 300. About 60 sixth grade students will be selected in a random drawing, and applicants for grades 7 through 10 will be drawn and given a waitlist number.
It is with great enthusiasm that we invite you and your family to join us at Federal Way Public Academy’s Information Night 34620 9th Ave S, Federal Way, WA 98003 Thursday, January 9, 2025 6:00 – 7:00 pm |
You will have the opportunity to hear from some of the staff, students and parents. The 6th grade teachers will talk about what to expect in 6th grade, and students and parents will talk about their own perspectives of what our school is all about.
Information about how to apply for Fall 2025 placement at FWPA will be available at the event. Additional details about the Choice Enrollment program and the online application can be found on the district website at www.fwps.org/choice and you can learn more about Public Academy by visiting www.fwpa.fwps.org. The choice application window is from February 3 through March 17, followed by the lottery drawing held on April 16 at the ESC. It is important to note that if selected into the choice program, parents must provide transportation. Our school hours are 8:30am to 3:00pm.
We encourage you to attend our Information Night event before applying to see if FWPA is a good fit for your child. We look forward to answering your questions!
Sincerely,
Laurie Thornton
Principal
